Haiti

                Two years ago I had the chance to visit Haiti and it was a great experience. When people hear about Haiti they usually think about the tsunami two years ago or the most recent earthquake. Haiti is in really bad condition right now and the people are too poor to do anything about it. They struggle making money in their everyday lives and the average home is nothing we could image living in as Americans. The island is very small and there population contains about 9 million, even though it seems like a lot America holds about 305 million and we’re more successful.

                I went there right before the tsunami hit and it was beautiful. Seeing the light blue salt water was breath taking. Although it was beautiful the people were poor and desperate. As we entered the island we were immediately swarmed by them asking to buy goods from them and not their neighbors. I was left with the impression with each of these natives, that they had many mouths to feed. They all had a product that was made or a service to sell and it was important to each of them to purchase from them and not others. It was hard not to buy from each one as you could feel their desperation. After a few minutes of this it became hard to take. I didn’t have enough money to give to each of them and although I felt bad that I couldn’t help all of them I bought from many. Although they do not have much they have a beautiful island, but after the tsunami and the earthquake the island is not what it used to be. I know they will eventually rebuild and I hope that creates a better life for them.

Research

A research paper has been assigned to the class and mine will be centered on the career field that I will be going into. I am currently thinking that I will pursue in education. I think this research paper will help me understand more about the field. I enjoy spending time with little children and I thought this would fit me the best. My research question will be about how technology has affected the way teachers can teach the class. I will cover every grade level of education to show how technology can have a different affect on different ages. Technology has improved so much that students do most of the work on computers and sometimes don’t even have to show up to the school in order learn. Schools are currently investing money into computers so that teaching is simpler for students and teachers. Schools have also set up a system for students to learn at home. There are many advantages and disadvantages to this technology taking over for a student’s work and I plan on covering that in my research paper. Technology is very helpful with schools because the use of the internet will make research within the school easier. I think this topic is very important because technology is in our everyday life and narrowing it down with education can show how many advantages and disadvantages there are. I think covering technology is a good way to look at the field in a different view because I feel today’s school depend on technology.
